Spiritual Life at Calvary

In keeping with the mission of Calvary to “partner with parents to develop Christ-centered leaders”, the spiritual life aspect of the Academy seeks to be an ally to parents in the discipleship process. Through these discipleship efforts, students will be encouraged to engage in their relationship with Christ and equipped to share it with others.

Chapel Services

During chapel, students engage in the worship of God through singing songs of praise and through hearing His Word and applying it to living for His glory.

Early Ed and Elementary Chapel

This past year, students in elementary chapel studied the topic of “God’s Word.” Themes included the Bible’s inspiration by God, it’s theme of redemption, and its impact on daily living.

Junior and Senior High Chapel

Themes in secondary chapel are divided by semester, ranging from topical studies to expositional preaching through books of the Bible. Students are often provided with an ESV Scripture Journal to use in following the study and taking notes.

UKnight Groups

Similar to what many churches do through small groups such as “community groups”, UKnight Groups serve as a time for relationship building, Bible study, and prayer. Students in 9th-12th grades are put into groups of 8-10 students who meet with a faculty member about twice a month. During this time, groups review recent chapel studies and make life application, gather prayer requests, and often spend some time just socializing or playing a group game. Students are challenged to use the time between meetings to follow up on prayer requests, encourage one another, and continue building Christ-centered relationships.

Bible Studies

Voluntary, faculty-led Bible studies for students in junior and senior high are held throughout the school week for interested students. Whether before school or during lunch, these group studies provide further opportunity for digging into the Word while building relationships.

Elementary Prayer Group

A faculty-led, voluntary prayer group for upper elementary students meets each week to learn various Biblical approaches to prayer and then puts the lessons learned into practice.

Family Discipleship

In keeping with our belief that discipleship is primarily the role of the parent and that we at the Academy are partners in that pursuit, we have provided the book “Family Discipleship” by Matt Chandler and Adam Griffin for each of our enrolled families. This book that focuses on “time, moments, and milestones” in your home is an invaluable resource.

To accompany the book, a series of videos was created by the Academy to guide parents through their study of the book.
