Contribute to Scholarship

Donors need an account on the website before applying for a tax credit. This can take up to 10 days and involves a mailed pin number.
After you have registered, you can reserve your credit for the 2018 calendar year with the Illinois Department of Revenue in order to make a donation.
Once you receive confirmation of your tax credit from the Illinois Department of Revenue, you have up to 60 days to make your donation to the Children’s Tuition Fund.


How to register with the Illinois Department of Revenue

Part I:  Request a Letter ID at

  You will need:

  *  The primary taxpayer’s social security number.

  *  One of the following:

  Illinois driver’s license number

  Illinois state ID number

  Adjusted Gross Income from 2016

  You will find the “Request a Letter ID” under the “Individuals” tab at the top of the screen.

  Follow the prompts.  You should receive your Letter ID in the mail within 7-10 business days.

Part II: Activate your account using your Letter ID

  You will need:

  * Your Letter ID

   * Primary taxpayer’s SSN and one of the approved documents above.

  Click the “Signup Now!” button by the login box and follow the prompts. 

  Using your information, you will be able to look up your “IL-PIN”.

  Use your pin number and Letter ID to set your username and password and activate your account.

  Once your account is active, you will be able to reserve your tax credit.


How to  Reserve Your Tax Credit

Part I: Indicate Your Scholarship Pledge

  Visit the Illinois Department of Revenue through theMyTax.Illinois.Gov website and login to your account.

  Choose the “Individuals” tab at the top of the website and then select “Invest In Kids” followed by the prompt to “log in.”

  Choose “I want to…Invest in Kids.” You will need to select a region (CCA is Region #4) where your funds will be designated. 

  Choose Children’s Tuition Fund as your SGO, then enter your scholarship pledge.

  Your scholarship pledge should be made for your full donation amount.  The state will calculate your tax credit.

Part II: Access Your Certificate

  The Illinois Department of Revenue will email you within 3 days with instructions to log back into your account.

  Click the “Correspondence” tab, and view your Invest In Kids “Contribution Authorization Certificate” (CAC).

  Once you have your certificate, return to Children’s Tuition Fund to make your donation.
